5 Headline Unworthy Health and Fitness Tips for the New Year
As the New Year begins, the pressure to dive into extreme diets and intense fitness regimes can feel overwhelming. At Amovida, we champion a sustainable, science-backed approach to health—progress that lasts. Here are five tips to guide you through January and beyond.
1. Set Achievable Goals
Avoid sweeping resolutions like “get fit” or “lose weight quickly.” Instead, focus on measurable targets like taking a brisk walk daily or attending three fitness classes per week. Research shows that setting small, realistic goals increases the likelihood of long-term success.
2. Consistency Over Perfection
Life isn’t perfect, and neither are we. Missing a workout or enjoying a treat doesn’t derail progress. Studies highlight that adherence to habits, not rigid perfectionism, is what drives results over time.
3. Forget Detox Diets
The liver and kidneys already do a brilliant job of cleansing your body. There’s no solid scientific evidence to support detox diets. There is solid evidence to support cutting back on processed foods, alcohol, and sugar, but living on juice or spending a fortune on detox supplements is unnecessary and often miserable. All diets work because, regardless of philosophy, they mostly remove the foods which are hyper palatable and cause us to overeat, sending us into calorie defecit… and voila… weight loss and feeling better! So find a way of eating which works for you and minimises the crap and block out any other noise from social media.
4. Find Movement You Enjoy
Exercise shouldn’t be a punishment. Whether it’s yoga, cycling, or Group Power, research shows you’re more likely to stick with activities you genuinely enjoy. We have you covered with many different class types as well as tailored personal training and our small group PT courses. If you try one class and it's not your jam, try something else. And know that not all gyms cater to every person, we would be lying ion we said we were for everyone, we’re not… and that’s ok. When you find your tribe, you’ll know, even if that’s not us.
5. Be Patient and Persistent
Sustainable change is slow but rewarding. A 2021 study from the Journal of Behavioral Medicine emphasised that small, consistent actions over time are far more effective than short-term extremes. Avoid exhaustion and injury by setting a steady and progressive workout routine and sticking to it all year.
Here’s to a healthier, happier you in 2025—one realistic step at a time!
